Every year, watch brands around the world produce many new collections of watches, both analog and digital hoping to attract the attention of wouldbe buyers from every corner of the globe. Watch design, functionality, and price vary drastically from brand to brand. But there are certain key features that we believe make up a quality digital watch. But even amongst the plethora of quality watches out on the market, only a few will make it onto our list of the best digital watches of 2020.

When we take a look at a digital watch, we want the watch to have a great value proposition, a distinctive look, or additional features that really help it to stand out. As opposed to analog watches, we believe that there is not as much to distinguish one digital watch from the other but the best digital watches are determined by the value that they bring for the price we, as the consumer, pay.

To begin this guide to the best digital watches 2020 we want to start out with one of our favorite watchmakers who will actually have two watches featured on the list, Casio. Casio is a Japanese electronics company that started out specializing in calculator production. When the entered the watch market, they really focused on producing very affordable watches for the public. They have stuck to their roots but have also added another line of very fashionable and higher quality design than the classic Casio, G-Shock.

G-Shock GA700UC-3A

All 90’s kids will remember the prevalence of the G-Shock. But the watch has not sat back on its laurels. It has adapted and created amazing new watches that are even more durable than they used to be. The Casio GA700UC-3A is one of our favorite digital watches. We picked the 3A model specifically because the dark gray one is too standard for us at OG Watches. We like a pop of color or a distinguishing design, however, this model comes in dark gray (GA700UC-8A), tan (GA700UC-5A), and olive green (GA700UC-3A). The G-Shock GA700UC-3A is an olive green hybrid digital and analog watch that is specifically built for the active community and even the military in mind. The GA700UC-3A is very shock resistant and has a protected glass to help keep it safe during any situation. We love that this watch is only $99. Keep reading to see all the features that this watch provides which will make sense why $99 is a steal.

FILA 38-826-004

As opposed to Casio, Fila did not start out as a watch company. Their origins are in the fashion and clothing industry. The philosophy with Fila has always been to push the envelope with their design and challenging status quo. If you are interested more in reading about Fila’s history you can check out our blog post here. When Fila decided to enter the watch market, they continued to challenge the status quo with their mixing of materials and colors. Your typical Fila watch is anything but typical. The watch that we picked as the best digital watch from Fila is model 38-826-004. We love the extra large face in black with light blue accents, combined with a gray strap. We also loved the price point of this watch at $69.95 (as of Jan 29, 2021).

Casio a158w

As we mentioned in the introduction to this blog post, we are focused on the best digital watches of 2020. We determined the best digital watches by value. The Casio a158w is just that, a value watch. The a158w is very unique in that it is a silver colored stainless steel and plastic digital watch. There are not many watches on the market that offer a stainless steel band and even less watch makers offering it at under $25. The a158w may not offer as many features or as much umpf as the watches listed above but it is a great watch to consider especially if you lose things easily or are not sure if you are interested in wearing a watch everyday. We do not suggest this watch for extreme activities but with the price point and the clearly digital face, this watch combines really well with activewear or athleisure outfits.

Casio a158w Specs

  • Case Diameter: 33 mm
  • Case Thickness: 8 mm
  • Case Material: Plastic
  • Strap Material: Stainless Steel

Casio a158w Features

  • 30 Meters water resistance
  • Backlight
  • Stop Watch
  • Alarm

This digital watch does not have the features that the Casio G-Shock has but it also won’t cost you nearly as much. Priced at $18.85 (as of Jan 29, 2021) it really is a great affordable watch. If you would like to purchase this one of the best digital watches you can buy it here.

While these are our selection of the best digital watches of 2020, there are so many other great watchmakers. We wrote about a great affordable watch that we considered would compete with the Casio a158w but it didn’t make it onto this list of the best digital watches of 2020 because it lacked a differentiator. That watch is the Palada watch. If you want to read more about the Palada watch we detailed all the information about that watch in this blog post.
